Frequently Asked Questions

What is your pottery made of?

My pottery is thrown by hand out of a midrange porcelain. It gets fired up to approximately 2100 degrees and is glazed with a satin matte clear. All the colors are hand painted with Amaco Velvet Underglazes.

Do you teach classes?

I occasionally teach one day workshops which focus mainly on decoration. Follow me on Instagram for notifications and updates on when and where these will be.

What is a DIY? Coming Soon!

When you buy a DIY (Decorate It Yourself) kit you receive a bisqued vessle and underglaze, and access to an instructional video, plus a written set of instructions and tips. You also have the option to rent a set of brushes and a paint palette. If these are returned within the time limit and in good condition the cost of the rental will be refunded to you. You will have 2 weeks to complete the project and then return it, and all tools, to be glazed and fired. Please plan on an estimate of 2 weeks after the drop off date before your finished piece will be available for pick up.

How do I go about getting a DIY kit? Coming Soon!

DIY kits are only available locally and must be picked up in person (it will be contact free). The vessels and tool kits are available on my Etsy page ). If you absolutely must have one and don’t live in Gainesville, FL please send me and email at BiancaWilliamsCeramics@gmail.com and we can discuss shipping strategies.

Do you have any events coming up?

The best way to keep up with my events is through my Instagram, @biancaw.ceramics.

Do you take Commissions?

I accept commissions if my schedule allows. I'm always happy to talk about it, so please send me an email if you're interested. Please expect a custom order or set to take 4-6 weeks to make. If it is a design or shape I have made in the past that you would like another of or you missed out on in a previous sale, it will most likely be much quicker! I accept commissions from businesses and individuals.

Local pick up?

If you live in the Gainesville area you can choose to pick up your purchase instead of having it shipped. Just select the local pick pick up option during check out. The first weekday morning after a sale I will send a message with one weekday and one weekend date for pick ups. Hopefully that covers everyone, please RSVP to one of the dates. If none of the times work please send me a message and we can work out another option.

Where can you find my work?

I keep pieces stocked at The Auk Market and at Serpentine Plants and Provisions. Both are in Gainesville, FL.

What is a second?

I do occasionally sell second in my Etsy and at sales. A “second” is a piece that has a small flaw that does not interrupt a piece’s functionality but prevents it from being perfect. Seconds are clearly marked and offered at a reduced price.

What is a repurposed pot?

Sometimes a mug or other piece will develop a small crack in the base that makes it unable to hold liquid. When that happens, I often drill a hole in the bottom and sell it as a repurposed planter. This allows someone to have a pretty and unique planter for a particularly good price and reduces waste. It’s a win/win. These will be clearly marked and do not happen often so keep your eyes peeled.

Do you make commissioned work?

I do occasionally take commission projects, please feel free to ask. The timeline for commission projects is 6- 8 weeks from the day that the commission is accepted by me. Also, please keep in mind that commissions cost more than standard work.

Care and handling of work?

All my tableware pieces are dishwasher and microwave safe. They will live longer if they are handwashed but that is true of any machine-made product as well.

Shipping Materials?

I try to use the most eco-friendly shipping materials I can find. The packing peanuts are compostable and melt in water, but do not put them down the sink. The “bubble wrap” and boxes are fully recyclable.
