Bianca Williams was born in Gainesville, Florida. She spent her childhood, playing in the woods, reading fairytales, learning to garden, and practicing every kind of art available, including painting and ceramics. She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida in English, focusing in creative writing. While pursuing her undergraduate degree, she began taking classes in UF’s ceramics department, continuing until she graduated in 2008. Her love of nature, illustration, and literature informs the visual language she uses to discuss the ideas of transience and transformation in her vessels. Her work features flowers grown in her own garden, depicting them with black line work on a white porcelain background, mirroring the botanical compendiums she finds so informative.
